Our story

Nearly four decades of nurturing children, families and futures.

New Hormisdallen's story began with a mother's belief in education.

Mrs. Deborah Nalubowa Sendawula To confirm spelling: Sendawula or Ssendaawula, a businesswoman trading between Uganda, Italy and the United Kingdom, saw first-hand how dedicated teachers shape a child's character. In the mid-1980s she chose to invest in a school of her own.

Hormisdallen opened in First Term 1986 in rented premises at Kamwokya, Kampala, as a nursery day and boarding school with just nine learners, one of them her own child. It grew steadily, adding a campus at Kyebando and, in a decision that shaped its future, acquiring land at Kirinya, where permanent classrooms, dormitories and staff housing were built.

In 2002 the Kirinya campus became an independent school, New Hormisdallen Day & Boarding Primary School. Staff stayed committed, parents kept their trust, and teaching carried on without interruption. The years since have been about steady building: better classrooms, stronger boarding, and a culture of discipline, respect, hard work and integrity.
